SUMMARY:National Aviation Day
DESCRIPTION:“Curiosity takes flight on National Aviation Day at McWane Science Center! Design the perfect paper airplane or launch a sounding rocket with a science payload. Also, join us for a one-day celebration in the IMAX DOME for a special viewing of “Carriers.” Enjoy $5 off the purchase of an Adventure Hall/IMAX combo ticket for this one day only!\n\nAircraft Carriers is a 45-minute-long IMAX documentary that highlights one of the greatest engineering feats in the history of warfare, the modern Nimitz-class carrier. The carrier is a masterpiece of technology and the flagship of the fleet. With RIMPAC, the world’s largest and most comprehensive international maritime training exercise providing a stunning visual context for the story, find yourself aboard the USS Ronald Reagan alongside the 5,000 highly skilled sea and air personnel conducting flight operations in the midst of the simulated war exercises taking place there. Rarely has there been a topic so visually suited and compelling for IMAX and other giant-screen theaters.\n\nProgramming:\n\n\n\n\nTime\n\nProgram\n\nVenue\n\n\n10:30 AM\nWhirlygigs\nDemo Station\n\n\n11:30 AM\nPaper Airplane Workshop\nWorkshop\n\n\n12:30 PM\nWing Walkers\nWorkshop\n\n\n1:30 PM\nDesign Challenge: Stomp Rockets\nWorkshop\n\n\n2:30 PM\nTinker Shop: Take Flight\nItty Bitty Magic City\n\n\n\n\n
